The awareness of awareness,

Is an expression of presence:
A manifestation of the autonomy of consciousness
That is beyond individual authority.

Embodied neither as who it was
Nor as who it may become,
The self is a perpetual reaffirmation of being,
Insusceptible to will or circumstance,
For its material existence is no more
Than the perception of itself.

The realization of consciousness
Surfaces from unconsciousness;
The effect of will—
Of capability—
